Career Description




This position will be responsible for filling needs in the areas of education administration and staff professional development. The amount of time dedicated to each of these areas will vary based on the time of year and the changing dynamics of CDE's fast-paced work and learning environment. This position will report directly to the director of learning and may assist the directors of curriculum and the dean of students.Administrative duties may include:Models and coaches on best practice using data, applications, and pedagogy to inform and guide academic and instructional decisions for assigned teachers.Observes, documents, and provides feedback through informal observations and meetings with assigned teachers. Reports identified trends to the Director of Learning to guide continuous improvement.Evaluates assigned teachers.Provides onboarding and offboarding to assigned teachers.Responds to general questions from students, parents, learning coaches, teachers and schools and connects them with the appropriate CDE resources.Assists with managing and adjusting teacher workloads based on incoming enrollments.When delegated, resolves escalated teacher, parent, learning coach, and student concerns in alignment with the CDE mission and values while ensuring compliance with policies.Professional Development Coordinator duties may include:Collaborate with the assistant superintendent, director of learning, director of curriculum, dean of students, and human resources to develop and engage in the implementation and evaluation of professional development for staff.Review instructional practices of teachers to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement and develop professional development based on findings.Plan and lead individual, grade-level, or school-wide professional development opportunities focused on areas of improvement and goals.Provide information and guide decisions based on teacher best practice and pedagogy.Maintain accurate records of professional development completion of local, state and federal mandatory professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have the following minimum qualifications at the time of the interview:Completion of an approved program in education leadership, curriculum or content area at the master's level or above. At least 3 years of teaching experience. Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback. Experience designing and leading professional development. Excellent organizational skills, analytical and communication skills. Strong planning skills, vision and creative intelligence.Ability to think independently, exercise initiative, collaborate on resolution strategies and effectively implement solutions.Thorough and applied understanding of state standards and the alignment process.Evaluation and assessment skills, including collecting and using data on student and instructional performance to drive curricular improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

Current ND K-12 principal credential.Experience teaching virtually and applying best practices in virtual instruction.
