Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI)

The North Dakota Legislative Assembly appropriated funding for the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) to continue to support professional development for North Dakota Advanced Placement (AP) instructors.

This is an opportunity to offer high-quality professional development for AP instructors to attend an AP Summer Institute (APSI). The NDDPI will reimburse selected instructors for their travel costs to attend a National Math + Science Institute (NMSI) sponsored training in their curricular area.

APSI Application Guidance

Application Due Date: May 13, 2022

Funds Available: The North Dakota Legislative Assembly appropriated funding to broaden Advanced Placement (AP) professional development for instructors.

Funding Periods:

Round 1: June 1 - 30, 2022

Round 2: July 1 - August 15, 2022

APSI Application and Reimbursement

Instructors must complete an APSI application and submit it to the Office of Academic Support or fax it to (701) 328-0203.

APSI applications are accepted and reviewed in the spring of each year while funds for the current biennium are still available.

Reimbursement:

Each instructor will be reimbursed for the actual cost of travel expenses and/or registration fees not to exceed $2,500. Receipts are required.

To receive reimbursement, you are required to submit a completed Expense Claim for Non-department Employees form (SFN 9007) and receipts showing actual expenses. New vendors (suppliers and individuals) looking to receive payment from the State should use the online supplier registration pages to apply for a vendor (supplier) number Vendor Registry, which is required. Expense claims are due by September 3, 2022.

Supported Courses

Instructors in schools selected to participate in the National Math + Science Initiative (NMSI) College Readiness Program (CRP) for the 2021-2022 school year should sign up for NMSI APSI dates and times located on the NMSI website. Instructors in schools not participating in the NMSI CRP program can choose a CollegeBoard APSI.

Instructors must attend an APSI in a qualifying content area. To be a qualifying content area, the course must be on the following list and must be on the teaching schedule with students enrolled in the course for the 2022-2023 school year.
