Through funding set aside during the 68th Legislative Assemble, NDDPI offers each public district an opportunity to receive $2,000 per elementary building serving K-3 students for LETRS training. This will ensure that one educator is fully trained in LETRS.

DPI is hosting two online Q&A sessions for districts to learn more about this funding opportunity.

  • What if my teachers are already trained in LETRS Vol. 1?
    • This funding can also support two teachers to receive LETRS Vol. 2 training.
  • Can I send two teachers to LETRS vol. 1 with this funding?
    • No, this funding aims to ensure that elementary buildings have the opportunity to have at least one educator fully versed in LETRS Vol. 1 & 2.
  • My teachers started training this summer. Does that qualify for reimbursement?
    • The start date for training must have occurred no earlier than July 1, 2023, to be eligible for reimbursement through these funds.
  • My district isn’t interested in the funds. Is there anything I need to do?
    • All public school districts must respond to the application on WebGrants. Your district can use that form to opt out of the funding opportunity.
  • Do private schools qualify for this funding?
    • This funding opportunity is for public districts and schools only.
  • How do I apply?
    • There is an application form available on WebGrants. All public districts must respond to this application by October 24, 2023.
  • When can I claim funds?
    • Funds should be claimed only after a training has been completed. There will be a form in the WebGrants system that you will need to fill out with each participating teacher’s information.
    • For a teacher trained in both Vol. 1 & 2, two separate claims must be submitted.
  • How can these funds be spent?
    • All funds should be in relation to costs incurred during training. Some examples of allowable costs would be registration fees, materials costs, travel expenses, sub-pay, teacher stipends, etc.
