The ND Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant is a federal grant that aims to improve the literacy skills of disadvantaged children from Birth through Grade 12. North Dakota’s project aligns with the ND PK-12 Strategic Vision initiatives through the statewide implementation of ND’s Comprehensive Literacy Plan (ND CLP). To create the utmost impact on student achievement, North Dakota has five objectives to achieve its two overall goals for the CLSD program. To support literacy development for children who have previously been under-served, the department has designed a thorough implementation and coaching support model to address structural changes in comprehensive literacy instruction that will have a lasting, sustainable impact on educators. The NDCLSD program goals highlight family and community engagement and non-traditional learning opportunities for disadvantaged children.
