NDDPI Seeks Qualified Individuals to Serve on the Writing Committee to Revise the

Current Computer Science and Cybersecurity Content Standards

The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) is scheduled to begin revising the current Computer Science and Cybersecurity Content Standards. As part of this process, a statewide committee of representative content specialists will be established and maintained to review, revise, and develop new content standards.

The NDDPI seeks qualified individuals who will serve as select content specialists from North Dakota schools, school districts, and higher education institutions to review and revise the state’s current K-12 academic content standards in Computer Science and Cybersecurity education.

The writing committee will study the implementation effects of the 2019 approved academic content standards in Computer Science and Cybersecurity education and draft any revisions to improve the structure and content of these standards regarding the state’s future standards in this academic discipline. Once complete, committee recommendations will be forwarded to the state superintendent for final approval.

Recommendations from the content committees and public comments will be reviewed for approval by the state superintendent, as specified in NDCC 15.1-02-04(3). If approved, the recommendations will result in adopting a new generation of academic content standards to guide local school districts in developing local curricula.

The content standards writing process is anticipated to begin in July 2024 and include approximately four separate meetings (two days each), concluding in the spring of 2025. Applications must be submitted by June 14, 2024.
