The North Dakota 69th Legislative Assembly (2025) created and enacted a new section to chapter 15.1-13 and two new sections to chapter 15.1-21 of the North Dakota Century Code. The intention of the North Dakota Century Code (NDCC) sections 15.1-13 and 15.1-21 regarding mathematics curriculum and professional development is to support the improvement of mathematics instruction for students in North Dakota.

All teachers and principals serving students in grades 4-8 will:

  1. Receive training in mathematics content and instruction practices.
  2. Implement a research-based intervention program suggested by the state and adopted by the school board.
