Funding is available through the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) to support professional development for North Dakota Advanced Placement instructors through participation in Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI). The funds available are specifically targeted for APSIs in the following curricular areas:

- AP Calculus AB
- AP Calculus BC
- AP Computer Science A
- AP Computer Science Principles
- AP Statistics
- AP Biology
- AP Chemistry
- AP Environmental Science

- AP Research
- AP Seminar
The North Dakota Legislative Assembly appropriated funding for the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) to continue to support professional development for North Dakota Advanced Placement (AP) instructors. This is an opportunity for the NDDPI to offer high-quality professional development for AP instructors by attending an AP Summer Institute (APSI). The NDDPI will award selected instructors to be reimbursed for their travel costs to attend one professional development trainings opportunity.

Applications need to be submitted by May 1 and will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis.
Application Due Date: May 1, 2020
Funds Available: The 2019 Legislative Assembly appropriated funding to broaden Advanced Placement (AP) opportunities for students and AP professional development for instructors.
Round 1: May 15, 2020 through June 30, 2020
Round 2: July 1, 2020 through August 15, 2020
Funding Amount: Each instructor will be reimbursed on actual cost for travel expenses not to exceed $2,500. Receipts are required.
Allowable Activities: Attend an APSI in a qualifying content area. To be a qualifying content area, the course must be on the following list and must be on the teaching schedule with students enrolled in the course for the 2020-2021 school year.
Allowable Workshops: Instructors in schools selected to participate in the National Math + Science Initiative (NMSI) College Readiness Program (CRP) for the 2020-2021 school year, please sign up for NMSI APSI dates and times located on the NMSI website. Instructors in schools not participating in the NMSI CRP program can choose a CollegeBoard APSI.
Application Process: Instructors must complete and submit an APSI application. Submit to Jane Gratz or fax to (701) 328-0203.
Payment: To receive reimbursement, you are required to complete and submit an Expense Claim for Non-department Employees form (SFN 9007) and receipts showing actual expenses. If you do not have a current W-9 on file with the state, which is required for reimbursement, please complete the W-9 form and return with your application. NOTE: Participants will receive these documents upon acceptance of their application.
APSI applications are accepted and reviewed in the spring of each year while funds for the current biennium are still available.
