The NDDPI is pleased to announce a grant opportunity to strengthen our Choice Ready Framework and enable more students to graduate Choice Ready. 

The purpose of this grant is to increase opportunities for more students to graduate Choice Ready. We recognize there are many players involved in the Choice Ready framework. Therefore, applications can be submitted from high school principals, CTE Directors, and Special Education Directors.

Session Topic: Preparatory Classes and Tutoring

Session Description: Participants in this session will generate ideas to increase choice ready graduates through the use of preparatory classes and tutoring. More specifically, funding could be focused on providing additional support services to students for math, reading, science, and writing, to help prepare more students to excel on the ACT and in advanced courses. In addition, grantees should consider partnering with outside groups for these supports.

Session Description: Learn about the different ways you can partner with Center for Distance Education (CDE) to help your students become Choice Ready. Session Description: This session will review ways Advanced Placement and Dual Credit courses may be used in schools to meet Choice Ready requirements and challenge students. These college level courses expose students to the rigor they will experience in college courses. We will also review supports available for the advanced placement programs through NMSI and Schoolhouse.world and review the recent legislation which will support students enrolled in dual credit.

Session Topic: 21st Century Skills and the 4 C’s – Where to Begin

Session Topic: Becoming Alternate Choice Ready

Session Description: This session will discuss the ND Alternate Assessment and how it can be used to assist students with significant cognitive disabilities in becoming Alternate Choice Ready.  Alternate Choice Ready pathways will be reviewed along with suggestions of activities to incorporate into the student’s IEP to help them move towards being Alternate Choice Ready.

Session Topic: Using CREAM to Become Choice Ready

Session Description: This session will introduce participants to the CREAM program. This online learning platform is designed to assist students who did not meet the benchmark required to participate in college level mathematics and English courses. Students who take the program can prevent having to take remediation courses in the areas of mathematics and English when they enter college. The presentation will also explain how the program may be used to assist struggling seniors in English and struggling juniors and seniors in mathematics, as well as explore the skills covered in the program and explain supports available for this program.

Session Topic: Integrating Work-Based Learning into the Choice Ready Framework
