This position (53-38-5691) serves as a Foster Care and In-Home Services Case Manager within the Children and Family Services work unit. The primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to placement of children, case planning, referral to services, documentation, arranging and monitoring visitation, developing affidavits and attending court hearings and coordination of services to families. This position will cover cases in Burke and Renville Counties with some case coverage in Divide County. This position will cover on call for after-hours emergencies for Divide, Burke and Renville counties on a rotation with the other child welfare staff located in these three counties. Individuals may be required to work non-traditional work hours and be available for consultation to families. The ability to visit clients in the clients' home using their own transportation is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human services, human resource development (human service track), education, child development and family science or criminal justice, and two years of professional human services work experience as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager. A Master's degree in one of the areas above may substitute for one year of the work experience requirement. If no qualified applicants are found, we will consider filling as a Family Services Specialist II (SC 7004). Minimum qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human services, human resource development (human service track), education, child development and family science or criminal justice, and one year of professional human services work experience as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager; or a Master's degree in one of the areas above.If no qualified applicants are found, we will consider filling as a Family Services Specialist I (SC 7004). North Star Human Service Zone is seeking an Eligibility Worker for the Economic Assistance Department. The Economic Assistance Unit provides for?the assessment and eligibility determination of applicants for a variety of programs by interpreting and applying complex state, federal, and county policies. This position requires knowledge of community resources and Economic Assistance programs including Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Health Care Coverage, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Low-Income Energy Assistance, Child Care Assistance, Healthy Steps and General Assistance. Program training is provided for this position. Some travel throughout North Star could occur. To succeed in this position, you should have strong verbal and written communication skills, computer literacy, collaboration, and decision-making skills. You will also need to be comfortable working with all types of software and database applications, with a willingness to learn new technology programs. You will need to have a strong understanding of complex program policies and procedures. An ideal candidate for this position will be organized and able to communicate effectively with diverse populations. You will have an eye for detail, be able to manage your time and priorities effectively and pride yourself on excellent communication skills, empathy, and being a team player. You will have a passion for helping others and making a difference in our community. To be considered for this role, this position requires a high school diploma or GED, PLUS one of the following:Three years of work experience in the clerical, accounting, financial, legal, or teaching fields Three years of a bachelor's degree program (90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours) Three years combined education and experience as listed above Completion of the Eligibility Worker Certificate Program offered at Bismarck State College or formerly offered at Lake Region State College Preference will be given to candidates with 1 year of work experience determining eligibility in a human service office in one of the following Economic Assistance Programs; TANF, Food Stamps, Foster Care, Medicaid, or LIHEAP. North Star Human Service Zone provides support the families in the Zone by providing role modeling and a strong foundation for appropriate parenting skills. North Star Human Service Zone is seeking a Parent Aide/In Home Specialist. As a Parent Aide, you will provide services to families to assist with tasks needed to prevent?child abuse and neglect, foster care placement, and?to assist with the reunification of families. You will participate in developing a family plan which includes providing or nurturing parenting skills through demonstration and instruction. You will provide instruction/guidance on preforming household tasks and organization, share information on community resources and supports, as well as supervise parenting time for children placed out of the home. In this role you will also provide transportation as needed as well as help families to become self-sufficient using public transportation. Frequent travel throughout North Star Human Service Zone is required. You will need to have attention to detail in this role because you will be responsible for accurately documenting activities through electronic visit verification and/or paper logs. To succeed in this position, you should have strong verbal and written communication skills, computer literacy, collaboration, and decision-making skills. You will have a passion for helping others and making a difference in our community. You will have strong attention to detail, be able to manage your time and priorities effectively and pride yourself on excellent communication skills, empathy, and being a team player. To be considered for this role, you must have a high school diploma or GED and two (2) years of work experience providing direct care to special populations such as the mentally ill, developmentally disabled, children and adolescents, and patients/clients in a direct care facility such as a hospital, nursing home, group home, daycare, or in a community/mental health setting.
