The North Dakota Content Standards are reviewed every five to seven years. The review process begins with the selection of the standards for review. The review is conducted by a team of North Dakota educators who review the standards within the discipline, considering advances within that disciplinary area, national standards, and standards from states like North Dakota. The drafts of the revised standards are published and open to public comment, which the reviewers use to make further revisions. The drafts are also reviewed by a team of reviewers consisting of North Dakota stakeholders, including parents, businesspersons, and other members of the North Dakota community.

Draft 2 North Dakota Health Content Standards Public Comment Survey Now Open

The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI) seeks public input on the second draft of the North Dakota Health Content Standards.

The Health Standards outline the essential knowledge, and skills students should learn in health education from kindergarten through high school. The standards describe learning expectations but do not require specific teaching methods, curricula, or assessments.

Over the past two months, a committee of North Dakota educators has reviewed feedback from the initial draft and incorporated those revisions. NDDPI welcomes input from North Dakota stakeholders including educators, parents, families, community members, and industry partners.

Public Comment Period: March 16, 2026 - April 17, 2026 @ 11:45 p.m. CT

Please review the draft and share your feedback using the links below:
