Learn how the region’s earliest hunters crafted and used tools made from stone, wood, and sinew at this interactive drop-in session. Test your aim with ancient weapons including the atlatl (a spear-throwing tool) and the traditional bow and arrow. Registration is not required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Bring your furry companions and join us for the Great Pet Trek at the Fort Mandan State Historic Site near Washburn on Saturday, June 20, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. This fun-filled free event celebrates Seaman, the Newfoundland dog who was in this area while accompanying the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1804-5.

The Welk Homestead State Historic Site illustrates the history of agriculture in the early 20th century, German Russian culture and architecture, and the career of bandleader Lawrence Welk, who grew up on the farm. While at the site, take a selfie with the bronze Lawrence Welk statue.
