Learn about blacksmithing and use of the coal forge from Bob McCay and Rick Wengel. 

The Welk Homestead State Historic Site illustrates the history of agriculture in the early 20th century, German Russian culture and architecture, and the career of bandleader Lawrence Welk, who grew up on the farm. While at the site, take a selfie with the bronze Lawrence Welk statue.

Celebrate Independence Day at the Pembina State Museum on July 4, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Outdoor games including cornhole and ladder ball will be available on the back lawn, and lemonade will be served in the museum lobby. The event is free, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Chateau de Morès State Historic Site

Departing from the Chateau de Morès Interpretive Center, take a dog-friendly walk through the property’s bottomlands, following the stagecoach route and passing the carriage house and stable. Watch for local wildlife. This is not a full hike, but it will take more stamina than a leisurely stroll.  Registration is not required for these free, family-friendly programs, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
