Gov. Doug Burgum and representatives of the Main Street Initiative (MSI) team from the North Dakota Office of the Governor and the North Dakota Department of Commerce will be in Belcourt for a Main Street Visit with the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians hosted by the Turtle Mountain Tribal Government headquarters on Sept. 16.
During the visit, Burgum will host a public roundtable discussion with tribal leaders and community members from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Derrick Dixon Event Center.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to have an open, collaborative discussion with tribal leaders and members about how we can work together to create healthy, vibrant communities with smart, efficient infrastructure that can attract and retain a 21st century workforce,“ Burgum said. “Developing strong partnerships with all communities across North Dakota is key to improving the quality of life for both current and future generations through the pillars of the Main Street Initiative.”
In addition to its focus on the MSI, the visit in Belcourt also aligns with Burgum’s tribal engagement initiative which includes working with all five tribal nations with whom North Dakota shares geography to identify areas of opportunity for government-to-government collaboration.
