NDHP Youth Academy


The NDHP Youth Academy is a one-week residential learning experience for young adults ages 16-19. Students will learn the basic duties of a North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper, participate in a physical training program, and gain an understanding of NDHP’s commitment to our communities and our state. 

Areas of Focus

     •Firearms safety

     •Defensive driving

     •Crash investigation

     •Traffic stops


     •Defensive tactics

     •Criminal law

     •Aircraft operation

     •Motor carrier inspections

     •Police service dogs



  •  Young adults age 16-19 (by 7/15/2020)
  •  Good  moral character and work ethic
  •  Proof of medical insurance and a doctor’s note attesting to physical fitness
  •  One personal reference
  •  Completed application process, including personal interview
