North Dakota Administrative Code 38-08 authorizes the superintendent of the North Dakota Highway Patrol to authorize courses for insurance premium reduction.
Residents can take an online or classroom course and upon successful completion, be given a certificate which they can provide to their insurance company for possible premium reduction. It is recommended to check with your insurance provider prior to enrolling in a course to determine if a premium reduction is available.

Agencies or organizations wanting to offer courses for insurance premium reduction can begin the process by completing the SFN 12382 NDHP will then review the course offering and determine if it meets the requirements. Courses can be offered in the classroom or online.
