Last week, the North Dakota Highway Patrol hosted a National Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder train-the-trainer course at the Law Enforcement Training Academy in Bismarck. This training is an important tool to keep all first responders safe at a crash scene.

Thirty trainers attended and learned to conduct TIM training for first responders, including law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, towing and recovery, and communications. The two-day course included classroom, hands-on, and outdoor training. The objectives of training are responder safety, safe and quick clearance of vehicles, and prompt communications.

Since 2015, the NDHP has trained 938 first responders using the TIM training material.
