Medium

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree;
  • 60 semester credit hours will be accepted in place of an Associate's degree;
  • 60 semester credit hours may be replaced with comparable experience with law enforcement employment or military service. 

Other Requirements:

  • A citizen of the United States for not less than two years.
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Vision correctable to 20/30 or better, normal color vision and depth perception. 
  • Must possess an ​​​​​​​unrestricted driver’s license except for corrective lenses; revocation or suspension in the last three years are ordinarily ineligible for appointment. 
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position.
  • Must be willing to perform work involving personal hazards, requiring irregular hours including night shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Must successfully pass written tests designed to determine suitability for the position of a trooper. These tests measure the primary skills critical to successfully learn and perform the duties of a trooper. 
  • Must not have been convicted of a criminal offense that would harm the integrity of the Patrol. The following convictions will disqualify an applicant: felony, domestic violence, Class A misdemeanor within the last five years, Class B misdemeanor within the last three years. Any applicant who fails to disclose driving and criminal background information will be automatically disqualified from further consideration.
  • Must demonstrate judgment and common sense.  Be willing to discipline yourself to meet the job demands.
  • Willing to accept assignment anywhere in the state.
