Contact information: Brianna Ludwig, North Dakota State Auditor’s Office, 701-328-2453, bsludwig@nd.gov

The North Dakota State Auditor’s Office has reissued the City of Williston audit.

On Friday, October 25th, our office received an email from the city auditor directing us to use the responses that were provided to us and to finalize the report. The city auditor signed the representation letter which gives our office assurance that we have been given everything needed to conduct the audit. We finalized and released the City of Williston audit on Monday, October 28th.

Our October 29th, the city stated they had additional information that could change the results of the audit report, thus our office retracted the audit report. The subsequent facts provided changed the determination that the City of Williston entered into a joint venture which was not disclosed. Because of additional information, two of the findings from the initial audit report were removed.

“At the end of the day, having factual and objective reports is crucial, said Auditor Gallion. “Regardless of the optics, we want to do the right thing. We’re here to serve the citizens of North Dakota and we wanted to present a full opportunity for the City of Williston to respond.”

The complete audit report can be found on our website, http://bit.ly/18Williston.
