State Auditor Gallion Launches Petition Audit of Belcourt Public Schools

State Auditor Joshua Gallion today announced that his office has begun a citizen-requested audit of the Belcourt Public Schools, located on the Turtle Mountain Reservation in Rolette County.
“My office will conduct an audit of the financial records of Belcourt Public Schools. As part of that audit, we will report any identified deficiencies in the School District’s financial and accounting practices,” said Auditor Gallion. “I take the efforts from citizens initiating this review seriously and appreciate their engagement.”
Under North Dakota law, the State Auditor’s Office may be called on to audit a political subdivision if enough qualified voters of that entity request the audit. The Belcourt Public Schools audit was initiated through the petition process, which required 195 valid signatures.
