Auditor III
Location: Bismarck, ND State Capitol
Hiring Salary: $4,500.00 to $5,500.00
Summary of Work
- Under appropriate supervision, assist in conducting audits of state entities. As knowledge and skills increase individual will be given additional responsibility.
- Analyzes accounting forms, records, internal controls, and related computer systems.
- Develops informative recommendations which will enable management, those charged with governance, and those responsible for oversight to improve program performance, operations, and efficiency.
- Draft audit reports for medium-scale audits and/or sections of audit reports for larger audits.
- Travel is generally 2 weeks or less per year.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution
- Three to five years government financial statement or audit experience including functioning as a lead auditor
- Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing with other office employees, audit clients, and those charged with governance.
- Analytical ability
- Requires successful completion of the hiring process including references, background, and criminal record checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Have a professional certification such as CISA, MCSE, CCNP, etc.
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
- In addition to the Computer Information Systems degree, have a master’s degree or major/minor in accounting, business, management, finance, economics, and/or communications.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, Oracle Database, and related software.
- Critical thinking and analytical ability.
