Audit Shows Need for Greater Documentation of Tenure of Faculty at Bismarck State College

Contact information: Brianna Ludwig, North Dakota State Auditor’s Office, 701-328-2453, bsludwig@nd.gov

State Auditor Joshua Gallion today released an audit of Bismarck State College which shows from July 2017 through June 2018, the college was not maintaining required documents for granting tenure.

"Tenured faculty receive more benefits,” Auditor Gallion said. “Not maintaining documentation to justify the decisions to award tenure leaves the decisions to be second guessed."

The audit also found that the college was not following travel meal reimbursement policies and not following proper procurement procedures.

This audit is a result of the State Auditor’s Office statutory responsibility to audit or review each state agency once every two years. The complete audit report can be found on our website, http://bit.ly/BSCollege18.
