Burgum appoints Shawn Riley to CIO Position
Governor Doug Burgum on 3/10/2017 appointed Shawn Riley to be the state's chief information officer and lead the North Dakota Information Technology Department (ITD). Riley has served in IT leadership positions for the past 17 years. He has been the section head of information technology for Mayo Clinic since 2014, having previously held roles within the Mayo Clinic Health System as chief information officer and chief technology officer. Riley will assume his duties as CIO on April 17.

New GIS Hub Data Portal
The new GIS Hub Data Portal provides a fresh, new interface to browse, download, and map GIS (geographic information system) data. The primary purpose of the Hub Data Portal is to make GIS data, from across state agencies, publicly available.

Snowmobile Trails Open
Just over 2,800 miles of groomed snowmobile trails are available to North Dakota snowmobiling enthusiasts. Trails are open from December 1 through April 1, depending on snow cover.
