PFC Freidt was walking “point” as his platoon moved along a trail at the base of their elevated night position when he tripped a booby trapped grenade. We believe he died instantly. He was the first man killed from Charlie Company and the 1st Battalion (Mechanized), 50th Infantry’s second fatal casualty.
