Esri Format Steps (9.3.x):
- Open up ArcMap/ArcCatalog (9.3.x)
- Click on GIS Servers
- Click on Add ArcGIS Server
- Leave the default Use GIS Services as the default and click Next
- Enter the server URL: http://ndgishub.nd.gov/arcgis/services
- Click the Finish button

- Open up ArcMap/ArcCatalog (10.x)
- Click on GIS Servers

WFS Steps (9.3.x):
- Please visit the Esri 9.3.x help
- Determine the URL of the server and service to use, follow these steps:
- The server URL to use is found in the REST. For example, go to ndgishub.nd.gov/arcgis/rest/services
- Click on the Features link then click on Features/Geology
- Scroll to the bottom of the page
- Click on the WFS link
- Find and copy one of the xlink:href URLs, e.g. http://ndgishub.nd.gov/arcgis/services/Features/Geology/MapServer/WFSServer?
- Paste this into the URL field. For example in ArcGIS Desktop the screen will look something like this

- Be sure that you have installed the Data Interoperability extension
- In ArcCatalog you should see an Interoperability Connections option at the same level as Database Connections, GIS Servers, etc. Expand the Interoperability Connections item
- Double-click on Add Interoperability Connection
- For the format, select WFS (Web Feature Service)
- Click on the Parameters button
- Determine the URL of the server and name of service to use, follow these steps:
- The server URL to use is found in the REST. For example, go to ndgishub.nd.gov/arcgis/rest/services
- Click on the Features link in the Folders section then click on Features/Geology
- Scroll to the bottom of the page
- Click on the WFS link
- Find and copy one of the xlink:href URLs, e.g. http://ndgishub.nd.gov/arcgis/services/Features/Geology/MapServer/WFSServer?
- Paste this into the URL field and then at the Table List field, click on the ellipsis button (three dots). Select one or more of the layers then click OK.
- When finished, you should see something like this

- Click OK twice, once to dismiss this window then again to dismiss the next window.
- Now add data to the map by clicking on the Add Data icon, navigate to Interoperability Connections and then click on the newly added item, e.g., “Connection (1) –WFS.fdl then click on the Add button.

- Scroll to the bottom of the page
- Click on the WCS link
- Find and copy one of the xlink:type URLs, e.g., http://ndgishub.nd.gov/arcgis/services/All_Imagery/MapServer/WCSServer
- Paste this into the URL field. For example in ArcGIS Desktop the screen will look something like this:
