Careers In Corrections
The mission of the ND Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCR) is to enhance public safety, to reduce the risk of future criminal behavior by holding adult and juvenile offenders accountable, and to provide opportunities for change. To accomplish this mission the ND DOCR has over 90 job position classifications that are used to provide therapeutic rehabilitation, care, and security of offenders placed under the custody of the DOCR. Position classifications responsibilities are categorized into professional, security, industry, sales, maintenance, and administrative support groups.
Position category’s are listed below and is not an all inclusive list:
*Professional: Doctors, Mental Health Counselors, Addiction Counselors, Nurses, Psychologists, Chaplains and Educators.
*Security: Correctional Officers, Parole Officers, Correctional Case Workers/Specialists, Correction Agents
*Maintenance/Industry: Plumbers, Electrician, Industry Specialists, Sales, Storekeepers, and Heating Plant Operators
*Adminsitrative Support: Adminsitrative Assistants, Office Assistants, and Adminsitrative Staff Officers
