Common Errors

Error 4: Employer remits payment on behalf of an employee who no longer works at the business

Problem: There are times when an employee no longer works for the employer and the employer forgets to discontinue remitting payments on behalf of that employee; in other words, the employer remits a payment that was never withheld from a paycheck.

Appropriate Action: After withholding a child support payment from an employee's final paycheck, an employer must remember to update their files accordingly so that no other payment is remitted for that employee.
