Bismarck, ND - Bismarck, ND - The ND Department of Emergency Services today announced that over $150,000 is available through the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grant Program (HMEP).
Grant proposals must be submitted no later than Tuesday, September 9, 2008. A 20% local cash or in-kind match is required.
There are two types of grants available:
Planning - to develop, improve, and implement emergency hazardous materials plans as well as determine the need for regional hazardous materials emergency response teams. Planning grant dollars are available to Local Emergency Planning Committees.
Training - provide training to respond safely and efficiently to hazardous materials accidents and incidents, including those involving transportation of hazardous materials. Emergency responders from health, law enforcement, fire, and the emergency management disciplines are encouraged to apply for training grant dollars.
Since there are limited funds available, this is a competitive grant process. You must provide all required information and meet the grant deadline to be considered for funding. Grants will be awarded in October 2008.
