Emergencies and disasters have and will continue to affect the lives, property, environment and economic well-being of the citizens of North Dakota. The best response is to be prepared.

This section provides informational links to expand the user’s understanding of topics related to emergency planning, preparedness and response.

Several of the topics relate to common hazards in North Dakota. There is no substitute for personal preparation. In a disaster, government and other private and volunteer agencies may not be able to meet individual needs; therefore, it is important for all citizens to create plans to be self-sufficient for a minimum of 72 hours. Each person’s and family’s ability to respond to an incident will make a difference regarding how well the entire community minimizes the loss of life and property damage.
