Registered McHenry county. Born, Bisbee, N. Dak., March 10, 1895. Occupation - farmer. Enlisted in the Marine Corps at St. Louis, Mo., on Jan. 27, 1918. Sent to Parris Island, S. C. Served in 146th Company, from April 3, 1918, to May, 1918. Arrived in France, May 7, 1918. Served in 83rd Company, from June 11, 1918, to death. Engagements: Chateau-Thierry Sector; Aisne-Marne Offensive (Soissons); Marbache Sector; St. Mihiel Offensive; Meuse-Argonne Offensive; Champagne Sector; Meuse-Argonne Offensive, including crossing of Meuse River. Awarded, Fourragere.
