Registered Stutsman county. Born, Vail, Iowa, March 14, 1895. Enlisted in the Marine Corps at Fargo on Aug. 6, 1917. Sent to Parris Island, S. C. Served in 34th Company, Quantico, Va., from Jan. 8, 1918, to Feb., 1918; Arrived in Fance, Feb 25, 1918; 18th Company, 5th Regiment, from March 29, 1918, to death. Engagements: Toulon Sector; Aisne Defensive; Chateau-Thierry.
