Registered Ransom county. Born, Harpers Ferry, Iowa, Oct. 18, 1894, of American parents. Occupation - farmer. Inducted at Lisbon on Feb. 13, 1918. Sent to Fort Leavenworth, Kans. Served in Depot Company I, Signal Corps, Fort Leavenworth, Kans., to Feb. 20, 1918; Company C, 317th Field Signal Battalion, to death. Grade: Private 1st Class, May 15, 1918. Overseas from July 9, 1918, to April 25, 1919. Engagements: Offensives: St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne. Defensive Sector: Lorraine.
