Biography:

Not a registrant, enlisted prior. Born, Grand Forks, N. Dak., June 14, 1897, of Norwegian parents. Occupation - chauffeur. Enlisted in Company M, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, at Grand Forks, on April 10, 1917. Called into federal service, World War, on July 15, 1917. Served in Company M, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard (Company M, 164th Infantry), to March 18, 1918; Company B, 116th Supply Train, to Jan. 1, 1919; Quartermaster Detachment, Motor Transport Section, 1st Replacement Depot, to death. Grade: Corporal, April 18, 1918. Overseas from Dec. 15, 1917, to death.
