Registered Morton county. Born, Smithland, Iowa, July 3, 1895, of American parents. Occupation - plasterer. Inducted at Mandan on April 29, 1918. Sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa. Served in 163rd Depot Brigade, to (date not given); Battery E, 338th Field Artillery, to May 15, 1918; Company M, 358th Infantry, to death. Overseas from June 20, 1918, to death. Engagements: Offensive: St. Mihiel. Defensive Sector: Villerts-en-Haye (Lorraine).
