Registered Foster county. Born, Nordre Osterdal, Norway, Aug. 6, 1893. Naturalized citizen. Occupation - farmer. Enlisted in Company H, 2nd Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, at Harvey, on July 20, 1917. Served in Company H, 2nd Infantry, North Dakota National Guard (Company C, 147th Machine Gun Battalion), to June 11, 1918; Machine Gun Company, 28th Infantry, to death. Overseas from Dec. 13, 1917, to death. Wounded, slightly, Aug. 21, 1918. Engagements: Offensives: Aisne-Marne; St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne. Defensive: Montdidier-Noyon. Defensive Sectors: Cantigny (Picardy); Saizerais and Ansauville (Lorraine).
