Registered Golden Valley county. Born, Agnes, N. Dak., March 2, 1892, of American parents. Occupation - farmer. Enlisted in Company M, 2nd Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, at Beach, on June 30, 1917. Called into federal service, World War, on July 15, 1917. Served in Company M, 2nd Infantry, North Dakota National Guard (164th Ambulance Company, 116th Sanitary Train), to April 25, 1918; 161st Ambulance Company, to death. Grades: Wagoner, Dec. 1, 1917; Private 1st Class, April 25, 1918. Overseas from Dec. 11, 1917, to death. Engagements: Defensive Sectors: Anould (Alsace); St. Die (Lorraine).
