Registered Morton county. Born, Caddott, Wis., April 30, 1892, of American parents. Occupation - farmer. Enlisted in the Navy at Flasher on July 17, 1917. Home awaiting orders until Aug. 9, 1917. Served at Naval Training Station, Great Lakes, Ill., to Dec. 23, 1917; Naval Training Camp, Charleston, S. C., to April 5, 1918; Naval Rifle Range, Mt. Pleasant, S. C., to Oct. 9, 1918; Naval Hospital, Charleston, S. C., to death. Grades: Apprentice Seaman, 46 days; Seaman 2nd Class, 273 days; Seaman, 30 days; Gunner's Mate 3rd Class, 31 days; Gunner's Mate 2nd Class, 70 days.
