Circumstances:

Died while in POW status. Fought on Bataan and became a POW at Camp O'Donnell and Cabanatuan. He was one of 1622 Japanese Prisoners of War boarded onto the Oryoku Maru at Manila on December 14, 1944. The ship sailed and was bombed at Subic Bay, Philippine Islands, by American planes while it was picking up Japanese personnel. The Japanese abandoned ship. Only 403 of the original POWs on the Oryoku Maru survived the war.
