Not a registrant, enlisted prior. Born, Lake Mills, Iowa, Jan. 16, 1895, of American parents. Occupation - student. Enlisted in the Marine Corps at Fargo on May 5, 1917. Sent o Mare Island, Calif. Served in 78th Company, 6th Regiment, Quantico, Va., from July 14, 1917, to Jan. 1918; Arrived in France, Feb. 9, 1918, and served there to death. Grades: Corporal, Sept. 12, 1917; Private, March 1, 1918. Engagements: Toulon Sector; Aisne Defensive; Chateau-Thierry Sector.
