Served in Company E, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard (Company E, 164th Infantry), to Jan. 18, 1918; Company K, 26th Infantry, to discharge. Overseas from, Dec. 15, 1917, to Feb. 2, 1919. Wounded, severely, July 19, 1918. Engagements: Offensives: Aisne-Marne; St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne. Defensive Sectors: Ansauville (Lorraine); Cantigny (Picardy).
