Biography:

Registered Grand Forks county. Born, Kempton, N. Dak., May 22, 1896, of Norwegian parents. Occupation - farmer. Inducted at Grand Forks on Sept. 22, 1917. Sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa. Served in Company K, 352nd Infantry, to Nov. 28, 1917; Company M, 348th Infantry, to June 11, 1918; Camp Pike Replacement Draft, to July 27, 1918; Company H, 23rd Infantry, to death. Overseas from June 22, 1918, to death. Engagements: Offensives: St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne. Defensive Sectors: Marbache and Limey (Lorraine).
