The Where's My Refund? tool may be used to check the status of your North Dakota individual income tax refund. It will show you if your return has been received, if your return is being processed, and the date your refund was released from our office. You can also sign up for email or text alerts so you know exactly when your refund was issued. Watch a short video on how the Where's My Refund? tool works.
Click the "Where's My Refund?" icon to check the status of your refund:
To check your refund status, you'll need your social security number, filing status and the exact amount of your refund as shown on your return.
Information is updated once per day. Please allow 24 hours before checking again. There is no need to call our office unless the "check refund status" indicates you should.
Refunds may take longer than in the past. With the recent rise in ID theft and tax fraud, additional security checks are in place that may slow processing time.
NOTE: It is a violation of State Law to make an inquiry or attempt to obtain information on another taxpayer.
