HR Academy - Compensation and Classification
Compensation and Classification
The concept of classification stems from a large structure, such as the State of North Dakota, grouping over 7,000 positions into a manageable level of occupational categories. Through classification reviews and hierarchically structuring them based on common tasks, there are now 870 job classifications. That number used to be well over 950 classifications just a few years ago.
We place the salary values to the various pay grades. These values are based on studies and salary surveys focusing on benchmark jobs in state governments within a 10-state region, ND Job Service, ND Hospital and Healthcare Association, and data provided by Hay Group from their survey database. This combined information defines the 'market' and what it is willing to pay for an average employee, or market point, in a similar job.
This training session is designed for HR personnel, as well as those who perform HR tasks within their agency.
