  • May 4, 2018 A Prairie Expedition® American elm, released by the NDSU Woody Plant Improvement Program and resistant to Dutch elm disease, was planted on Arbor Day to commemorate the centennial end of World War I and to honor all Veterans who sacrificed to keep peace in our country and around the world.  It was donated by the NDSU-North Dakota Forest Service and ND World War I Centennial Committee.

  • June 11, 2007 A Northern Catalpa station #52; was dedicated in honor of the grass roots efforts of North Dakota families, professionals, and lawmakers who worked diligently to pass the Medicaid Buy-in for children in the 60th legislative assembly. The Catalpa was donated by families of children with special needs.

This tree was donated by the Viking Collection Agency, Heidi Heitkamp, Robert P. Bennett, and William H. Broer Jr. The Showy Mountain Ash is located on the Arboretum Trail at station #59.
  • June 15, 1993 This Colorado Blue Spruce is dedicated to Ralph J. Erickstad in recognition of his meritorious 30 year tenure as Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court, 20 years as chief justice, with the respect and affection of his colleagues. The Colorado Blue Spruce is located on the Arboretum Trail at station #42.

  • May 27, 1991 A Colorado Blue Spruce was dedicated in memory of Bill Mushik and donated by Corliss Mushik. The Colorado Blue Spruce is located on 5th and Boulevard.

  • April 24, 1991 An Amur Corktree was donated in memory of Greg Hinds by his parents Lee and Bernice Hinds. This planting was in recognition of the National Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Week and is located on the Arboretum Trail at Station #17.
  • April 8, 1991 A Ponderosa Pine was dedicated to North Dakota Year of the Young Child and donated by ND Association for the Education of Young Children. The Ponderosa Pine is located in the Centennial Grove.
  • November 2, 1990 A Green Mountain Sugar Maple tree was dedicated in memory of Gerald "Jerry" A. Halmrast and donated by the family and friends of Jerry Halmrast. The Green Mountain Sugar Maple is located on the Arboretum Trail at station #25.
  • September 25, 1990 A Black Walnut tree was donated in memory of Paul Bennett Klinkhammer by family, friends and wife Ree Schaefer Klinkhammer. The Clack Walnut tree is located on the Arboretum Trail at station #30.
  • May 4, 1990 Bur Oak tree was dedicated on Arbor Day and donated by Hal Rosenbluth, Rosenbluth Inc. The Bur Oak is located on the Arboretum Trail at station #22.

  • April 28, 1990 A Prairie Fire Crab Apple tree was dedicated in memory of workers who lost their lives from job related injury and disease. The tree was donated by the Missouri Slope Labor Council and is located north of the All Veterans Memorial.

  • April 24, 1989 The President's tree, a Bur Oak, that is located in front of the Capitol was dedicated to the people of the State of North Dakota in commemoration of the Centennial anniversary of statehood. The Bur Oak was donated by President and Mrs. George Bush.
  • April 24, 1989 The Centennial Grove was dedicated by President George Bush as a living memorial symbolizing tree planting projects initiated in 1989 by ND citizens to commemorate the 100th anniversary of statehood. The Centennial Grove was designed by the North Dakota Forest Service and is located on the Southwest side of the Capitol grounds directly north of the Governor's residence. The Centennial Grove was designated by the Capitol Ground Planning Commission.
  • May, 1988 The shrub and tree planting, donated by the ND Society of America Foresters, was dedicated as a living memorial, symbolizing tree planting projects by ND citizens to commemorate the 100th anniversary of statehood. The shrubs and trees are located on the boulevard berm southwest of the State Office Building.

The Native Prairie is registered as a North Dakota natural area by the ND Parks and Recreation Department. The Native Prairie is located northeast of the Maintenance Building, behind the shelter belt.

  • May, 1982 Three, Red Splendor Crab Apple Trees were donated by the ND Society of American Foresters and dedicated on Arbor Day. The Red Splendor Crab Apple trees are located on the east side of the mall below the flag poles.
  • May, 1978 A Green Ash was donated by the ND State University Horticulture Students and dedicated on Arbor Day. The Green Ash is located on the west side of the Maintenance Shop.
  • May, 1968 Three, Blue Spruce were donated by the ND University Horticulture Science Club and dedicated on Arbor Day. The Blue Spruce are located on the south side of the Legislative Chambers.
