State of ND Official Tree Lighting

The Office of Management and Budget, along with the Governor’s Office, invites the general
public to the Lighting Ceremony for the 2017 North Dakota State Christmas Tree. The ceremony
will be conducted by Governor Doug Burgum, First Lady Kathryn Helgaas Burgum, and Ms.
Kim Shaw on Tuesday, December 12 at 5:30 p.m. in the Memorial Hall of the Capitol Building
in Bismarck.

Live entertainment will be provided by Joel Gilbertson, pianist; Bismarck Mandan Symphony
Orchestra Brass Ensemble, and Legacy High School Evolution and Gold Standard Vocal
Ensembles. The ceremony is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served following
the ceremony.

The tree will be decorated with ornaments handmade by children, students, artists and
craftspeople from North Dakota, as has been the tradition since 1981. This year 331
ornaments were donated to the state tree. A descriptive listing of the ornaments will be
available at the ceremony.
