Background Investigations
Screening Potential Employees for Previous Abuse
Applicants to the facility will complete an employment application and a North Dakota Veterans Home Reference Evaluation Form to solicit information regarding any previous abuse allegations. Please click on “Background Investigations” for more information. (You do not need to fill out an “Information Release Authorization for Employment Consideration form” at time of application.)
Certified Nurses Assistants & Licensed Nurses
Prior to hire of the employee and routine resident contact, the Human Resources will check all pertinent State Nurse Aide Registries or other licensing authorities and the Board of Nursing to ascertain of abuse histories. This facility will not employ individuals who have been found guilty of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating residents by a court of law; individuals who have been found guilty of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating residents by an administrative agency; or those individuals who have a finding entered in the State Nurse Aide Registry concerning abuse, neglect, mistreatment to residents, or misappropriation of their property. This facility will report any knowledge it has of actions by a court of law against an employee which would indicate unfitness for service as a nurse aide or licensed nurse to the State Nurse Aide Registry or licensing board. The facility will check references and make reasonable efforts to uncover information about any past criminal prosecutions.

Prior to routine contact a designee will check pertinent licensing authority or board to ascertain existence of any of the above actions.
Pre-employment Drug Tests
New hires in the Nursing Department will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.
