Research and Information assists the agriculture commissioner by providing research and analysis of issues facing agriculture and the rural community, such as federal farm policy, regulatory matters, trade, disaster assistance, crop insurance, value-added agriculture and renewable energy development. 

Research and Information writes, edits and publishes most department publications, including press releases, informational pamphlets and brochures, newsletters and the biennial report. Publications are made available in hard copy and on NDDA's website,

Research and Information serves as a liaison to agricultural organizations, councils and other government entities, and is also the point of contact for the news media and the general public in learning more about North Dakota agriculture and the department.
