BISMARCK – Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has announced that $200,000 is available to fund bioscience company development grants.

“The 2019 Legislature created a bioscience innovation grant program to support biotechnology innovation and commercialization in areas including crop genetics, biofuels, biomaterials, biosensors and biotechnology,” Goehring said. “Any applicant that is a business in North Dakota providing assistance to develop bioscience companies in the state is encouraged to apply.”

The applicant’s program must help multiple bioscience entrepreneurs and/or impact the bioscience entrepreneurial ecosystem. The entrepreneurs benefitting from the program must be innovative and scalable.

Goehring said an information manual with application instructions, scoring criteria and an application template can be found on NDDA’s website at https://www.nd.gov/ndda/big.

Applications must be submitted in electronic form by 4 p.m. CDT Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019. The grants will be awarded in late fall.

Goehring said persons needing more information should contact Melanie Gaebe at (701) 328-4764 or mgaebe@nd.gov.
