State Capitol to host Pride of Dakota Day, Lunch
BISMARCK – North Dakota’s statehouse will be a showcase for local products during the eighth annual Pride of Dakota Day at the State Capitol, Thursday, Sept. 12.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Capitol visitors and state employees alike to shop for high quality Pride of Dakota products and to meet the people who make them,” said Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. “More than 50 Pride of Dakota companies will be selling and sampling foods and condiments, decorative items, jewelry, art and much more.”
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Capitol’s Memorial Hall, Legislative Hall and West End ground floor.
Goehring also encouraged Capitol visitors and employees to take in the special Pride of Dakota breakfast and lunch being served by the Capitol Cafe.
The breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. includes eggs kielbasa and toast. The lunch menu, served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., includes such entrees as glazed pork loin, sirloin tips, chicken BLT and roast beef on foccacia.
Companies providing the food include Baker Boy Bake Shop, Cloverdale Foods, Dakota Slim BBQ, Dean Foods/Land O’ Lakes, M & W Beef Packers and Pan-O-Gold Baking.
Administered by NDDA’s Marketing and Information Division, the Pride of Dakota program provides member companies with cooperative marketing and promotional events, such as in-store demonstrations, Pride of Dakota Day and the Holiday Showcases. The program also provides educational opportunities and representation at regional, national and international marketing expositions. More than 500 North Dakota companies are Pride of Dakota members.
