Reimbursement Still Available on Organic Certification Costs

BISMARCK – Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring is reminding organic producers that they have until October 31 to apply for reimbursement for organic certification costs incurred between October 1, 2010 and September 30, 2011.

“Producers can receive 75 percent – up to $750 – reimbursement of their certifications costs,” Goehring said. “Producers who are certified by International Certification Services (ICS) or the Organic Crop Improvement Associations (OCIA) Chapters 1 and 2 of North Dakota should apply for reimbursement through their certifier. All others should contact the North Dakota Department of Agriculture.”

Goehring said that so far, 84 North Dakota producers have applied for and received a total of $59,619 under the National Organic Cost Share Program.
