The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) was signed into law in 2011. Since that time, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been working to implement the numerous moving parts of the FSMA law. As part of this implementation, the North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) accepted a grant to provide outreach and education about the Produce Safety Rule to produce growers in the state.
The Produce Safety Rule is unique because not every person who grows produce will be required to comply but every person who is exempt must be able to provide documentation of their exemption. For this reason, NDDA has been tasked with developing and maintaining an inventory of farms that grow produce. NDDA is required, by law, to share this information with the FDA.
Below is a survey we request that you fill in your information so we can provide education and technical support to either help you prepare for regulation or prove your exemption.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to my staff with questions or concerns regarding the implementation of the Produce Safety Rule.
